DESCRIPTION

4 SHP scheme for the outflows from the existing reservoir of Smokovo dam.
Existing works

• Smokovo Dam and reservoir:
  – Rockfill dam with clay core H = 104 m
  – Reservoir capacity: ~232 x 10⁶ m³
  – Diversion/Bottom outlet tunnel horse shoe section D = ~5 m
  – High pressure penstock chamber and two cone outlet valve DN400 mm for the release of small ecological flows
• Irrigation outlet tunnel (Leodario tunnel) away of the dam, DN3 m, L = 3.960 m (~4 Km)
• Downstream of Leodario tunnel:
  – SHP SMOKOVO-1 (Q = 13 m³/s, H = 88 m, P = 10 MW) – Under Construction (PPC)
  – Existing steel pipe DN1800 m, L = 800 m and rectangular shute channel b = 2 x 2 m, L = 730 m for diverting overflows down to the existing ditch network

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

SMOKOVO-2:

• SHP in the downstream end of the existing DN1800
• Q = 13 m³/s, H = 50 m, P = 5,6 MW
• Two (2) turbine units, Francis type

SMOKOVO-3:

• Extension of the existing DN1800 with DN2200 steel pipe, L = 700 m
• Q = 13 m³/s, H = 115 m, P = 12 MW
• Two (2) turbine units, Francis type

SMOKOVO-4:

• Installed in the downstream end of existing diversion tunnel of the dam and using the small ecological flows.
• Q = 1,1 m³/s, H = 85 m, P = ~0,7 MW
• Steel penstock from the penstock chamber to the power plant along the downstream part of diversion tunnel DN700, L = 350 m
• One (1) turbine unit, Francis type
